Found a pet? (dead/alive)

Pets get lost, they can also be abandoned
Some pets have humans worried about them, at home hoping the pet will come home.

Please don't KEEP an animal you find or rehome it to someone else.

California Law states that the Animal Control facility with jurisdiction for where the animal was found, has to be notified within 24 hours that you have possession of this animal if you have not been successful in finding the original owners.

Animal Control is not always available to come out and pick up immediately and then if they do, the owners have to go to the facility to reclaim the pet

It's a bit of a hassle.

How we can help

We can try and help reunite with owners locally IF you have the pet contained and its not aggressive. We have volunteers in many areas of unincorporated North County Inland with microchip scanners.

Reach out to us via the Valley Center Pets - Animals Facebook group.

* We come to YOU

* Scan the dog for chip

PET HAS A CHIP

* Contact chip company if chip exists

* Contact owner for registered chip

PET DOES NOT HAVE A CHIP

* We call Animal Control, let dispatch know you have the dog,

An Animal Control officer will call you back to the discuss options.

IF YOU CAN NOT KEEP THE PET SAFE UNTIL PICKUP

* Our volunteer can give you options

- Take Pet to Carlsbad Shelter drop off

- Take pet to open vet for safe keeping

* Our Volunteer may be able to transport the pet to Carlsbad or an open Vet to hold for pickup

DEAD PETS

* We need good landmarks, crossroads, pictures of location of dead animal

If chipped, we will contact owner, so they know what happened to their pet

If not chipped, we will call Dead Animal Pickup
